"I hear that you really struggling right now, and I want to make sure you get the help you need."

Offer Support While they Contact 988

"I'm happy to stay on the phone with you while you send the text or start the chat. I'm here for you as you do that."

Pause while the person contacts 988.

If yes: "That's great, you're in good hands now. I'm going to let you go so you can have a full conversation with someone who can help you through this. You're not alone. 988 will be there to guide you through this."

If no: "Unfortunately, I can't continue our call as we are not a crisis center. If you are not contacting 988, I must end our call now."

It doesn't take much to empower others & provide hope for those in need. Here is what we look for in our Moms & Dads.

Be open-minded & patient
Experience as a mentor or parental figure
Be in good legal standing

While most anyone that meets our few Volunteer requirements, our vetting process helps protect those we serve & foster a safe, supportive community
